Kiddo is 3.5 y/o today

With only three years under your belt, half birthdays are very important.

News of the day. She's drawing a "pumpkin factory". Lydia's drawing skills are extra-ordinary, hshe makes snowpeople and smiley faces and bugs and kitties with intention and clarity. She gives us presentations on the binomial cube and mostly sleeps all night. Earlier this week her mam got scolded by the montessori teachers for always bringing her to school late. Yesterday was a big day. Saturday 02/02 started early with ballet classes at the depot. Then grocery shopping and lunch with Grandma Joan at her new apartment. Then sliding with our new friends Tomas, Lane, Jeff and Jill.

Lydia has really made the change from baby to kiddo. She's becoming more aware of the large world and I can see that her perspective (and shoe size) is changing. I'm especially proud to watch her change into her ballet clothes and run into the studio room by herself..no one else there, and wait for the teacher. Off into the world without hesitation.

Kiddo has a song

So again, I'm making excuses for not posting often on this site. Here's Lydia playing music and making up lyrics on the spot. I think it's interesting to hear her sing about the current things in her life like cousins and not staying in her big girl bed.

So our kiddo is quite a photog. I'm collecting all the pictures and I'll publish some here soon but I thought I'd show you a snap shot I made today when we were out at the Wrenshall farm picking beans from our farm share.

Golden Birthday!!

08/03/07 -- yep yep yep! Here's Ms. L @ 1 of the parties we had this week to celebrate Lil' L's 3rd birthday. Hummm....let's see...left to right its Wyatt Barber, Emma Anderson, Jesse Hatten, Dylan Hatten, Maria K., Little beaner chops, Anna K., Bella Bacigalupo, Rochi Emad-Syring, Harriet Anderson and Aden Barber. We went to the gymnastics academy and had a fun filled hour of running, jumping, climbing, bouncing and giggles. Even the grown-ups had fun walking on the bouncy floor. Then we had super good cupcakes that Patrice made in their party room. That was only 1 of the events that week. Others included beach time and a party at the Hoops to send off the Hattens to Korea for two years.

Along with being a big girl (3 yo) comes some responsibilities like feeding the doggies, not putting pony tail holders in your nose, using the potty on your own and sleeping in a big girl bed. I'm happy to say that all of these, the kiddo has happily taken on.

Milestones

So while Lydia and her mom are upstairs taking a bath, I'll take a second to make a post. Lydia latley has been pretending she is the mama and Patrice and I are the "kiddos" this is fun and a natural way for her to explore the roles in our family. She sure looks up to her cousin Bella. Last Saturday we had a girl party here with Bella, Harriet and Emma Anderson, Ruby and Pearle Swanson and Roshi (the only boy) Syring. They all had fun running around and hiding and sqweeling when I suprised them. Later, Bella and Lydia stayed up far too late (11pm) talking and giggleing in Lydias room...it was the second sleepover that we had with Bella.

Catching up...

...to this kiddo is going to tough. Here's her doing some light reading at 2.5 years old. Proof that even in adoption, the apple doesnot far fall from the tree. Today we took her to Dr. H for a quick check up. She laid still on the table and played with us well for 45 minutes while we waited. She is such the little individual, and fun and grumpy and all the things that a little person should be. Short of waxing on and on (off alot, I'm keeping these post brief and achievable

no excuse..not the time

I'll get to that later.

Right now, I'm going to pick it up where it's at. P and L are driving home from Kelly and Doug's farm. Lil L got to feed a horse, Maggie May. Patrice brought the camera so maybe a pic or two soon. I'd like to take this back up and keep a diaary about Lydia's life here. She's almost three and such a little individual! And smart ..ooo...
